William Hinds is a Emeritus Professor of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences and the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. Prior to coming to UCLA he was an Assistant and Associate Professor at the Harvard University School of Public Health. Dr. Hinds received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1962 and an M.S. and doctorate in Environmental Health in 1969 and 1972 from Harvard University. During his tenure in the EHS he served as the director of the UCLA Industrial Hygiene Program, director of the Southern California NIOSH Education and Research Center, and co-director of the UCLA component of the NIEHS Southern California Environmental Health Center. He is also a member of the EPA Southern California Particle Center. He is a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) (comprehensive practice).
